Who Is American Independence Gold

AIG describes itself as veteran owned and operated, and it supports the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a charity that builds homes for veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families.

The company's leadership points to more than 40 years of combined experience in the precious metals industry.

AIG is listed as a member of the National Coin & Bullion Association and holds a life membership with the American Numismatic Association, two trade groups that set standards for dealer conduct and coin authentication.

The company operates out of a single office at 1665 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd in West Palm Beach. It is not a bank, and it is not your IRA custodian.

AIG connects clients with third party custodians, including The Entrust Group, who handle the legal paperwork, and with IRS approved depositories that physically hold the metal.

This is standard practice across the Gold IRA industry. No dealer can legally act as custodian and depository at once for a self directed IRA.

Products and Account Types

AIG sells four metals in bar and coin form, and it supports two paths to ownership: a self directed IRA or a direct purchase shipped to your home.

MetalAvailable AsIRA Eligible
GoldBars and coinsYes
SilverBars and coinsYes
PlatinumBars and coinsYes
PalladiumBars and coinsYes

Not every coin qualifies for an IRA. The IRS requires a minimum fineness (0.995 for gold, 0.999 for silver, 0.9995 for platinum and palladium), with an exception for American Gold Eagles. Ask AIG for the specific product list before you assume a coin you like is IRA eligible.

Popular IRA eligible products across the industry include American Gold Eagles, American Gold Buffalos, Canadian Gold Maple Leafs, and gold bars from refiners like PAMP Suisse.

Collectible or numismatic coins, the kind prized for rarity rather than metal content, generally do not qualify for an IRA, so if a rep steers you toward a "limited edition" coin for your retirement account, ask directly whether it meets IRS fineness rules.

How the Process Works

AIG lays out a three step process on its site.

  1. A specialist reviews your existing retirement accounts and goals over the phone.
  2. Funds move from your 401(k), traditional IRA, or similar account into a new self directed IRA. When done as a direct custodian to custodian transfer, this does not trigger a taxable event.
  3. The custodian purchases metal from AIG and ships it to an insured, IRS approved depository, where it sits until you take a distribution or sell.

For direct, non IRA purchases, the steps are simpler: you order the metal, pay for it, and AIG ships it or arranges storage in a private vault.

Customer reviews on Trustpilot and the BBB describe a slow, education first sales approach. Reviewer Harry D wrote in August 2026 that the company was "trustworthy" with "honest and knowledgeable people."

Several reviewers named specific representatives, including Ryan D and Max, and described repeat check in calls after the sale closed. That pattern shows up often enough across platforms that it looks like a real part of how AIG operates, not a one off.

Reviewer Juan S, writing in January 2026, credited a rep named Max with making "everything easy to understand" and said the process felt smooth from start to finish.

These specifics matter more than a star count on its own, since they tell you what the sales process actually feels like on the phone.

Employee reviews on Indeed are more mixed. Several current staff describe a supportive, fast paced sales floor with genuine coaching from management.

One reviewer, writing anonymously, called it "just a call center going through leads the owner bought" and said they made no money there.

Take that as one data point among several, not the full story. Sales heavy call center jobs in this industry tend to produce a wide spread of employee experiences depending on how each rep performs, and a single negative Indeed post is not unusual for a company this size.

What matters more to a prospective customer is the pattern on customer facing platforms, and that pattern leans strongly positive across BBB, Trustpilot, and Google.

What to verify yourself

AIG's site does not publish a fee schedule for setup, annual custodian charges, or storage. That is common in this industry, but it means you should get exact numbers in writing before you transfer funds.

Ask what the custodian charges annually, what the depository charges for storage and insurance, and what markup applies to the specific coins or bars you plan to buy.

Market Backdrop: Why Investors Are Looking at Gold Right Now

Gold has had an unusual couple of years. Spot prices set an all time high above $5,500 per ounce in January 2026, then pulled back by roughly 12 to 16 percent through the spring as a spike in oil prices following the US Iran conflict pushed inflation higher and raised the odds of continued Fed rate holds.

As of this writing, spot gold trades near $5,000 per ounce, silver near $81, and platinum above $2,100, according to the live feed on americanindependencegold.com.

What stands out is who kept buying during the dip. The World Gold Council's Q2 2026 Gold Demand Trends report showed central banks added a net 288.9 tonnes of gold in the second quarter, the highest second quarter figure on record, even as prices fell around 16 percent during that same stretch.

Bar and coin demand from individual investors rose 42 percent year over year in Q1 2026 to 474 tonnes, the second highest quarterly total the WGC has recorded. Total gold demand across all categories hit a record $193 billion in Q1 2026 alone.

Forecasts for the rest of 2026 vary widely. Goldman Sachs Research puts a year end target of $4,900 per ounce. J.P. Morgan Global Research has published a more aggressive call, averaging $6,000 per ounce by the fourth quarter.

Neither forecast is a guarantee, and Goldman Sachs has flagged rising volatility tied to gold derivatives as a factor that could push prices in either direction faster than usual.

Conclusion

American Independence Gold has strong third party ratings and a straightforward three step process built around an established outside custodian.
